Elton John To Release New Album with Leon Russell
[lastfm]Elton John[/lastfm] has for years been an admirer of 70s singer/songwriter [lastfm]Leon Russell[/lastfm], and the two have finally come together on their first collaboration album titled The Union. The new album includes the lead single “If It Wasn’t For Bad,” which features lyrics written by Russell and soulfully delivered by John, with both artists on piano.
In regards to Russell, John told Rolling Stone magazine that, “…his music takes me back to a wonderful time in my life, of music and experimenting, people sharing what we had…” The two first came into association when John opened for Russell at a New York performance in 1970.
The Union is due out in stores October 19th, and will be kicked off with a show at New York’s Beacon Theatre. Read more on the upcoming album and John and Russell’s new single at Billboard.com.
