Last.fm Trends Looks At Bon Jovi’s Greatest Hits
This Tuesday, November 9, Bon Jovi performs a free webcast live from the Ed Sullivan Theater as part of the online concert series Live on Letterman. Jon, Richie, and the band will be running through classic hits and more as they celebrate the release of their new Greatest Hits collection, released the same day and featuring four brand-new tracks alongside fan favorites.
Last.fm Trends took a look at Bon Jovi’s catalog to see which of the band’s hits have been rocking listeners lately – and what, perhaps, we might expect to hear during the webcast.
This past year Bon Jovi has proven as popular as ever, thanks in part to the fact that the band is still traveling the globe on its worldwide Circle Tour. The chart above shows the most popular Bon Jovi songs during the past six months among Last.fm listeners, and the 1986 Billboard Number One “You Give Love A Bad Name” sits right at the top, a song that, should it show up during the Live on Letterman webcast, will certainly get a huge reaction.
However, when you look at the band’s all-time song plays, it’s a much newer track – “It’s My Life,” released in 2000 – that’s is currently the most popular. With 2,044,468 scrobbles (and counting) from 330,438 listeners, it’s turning into a modern classic. (By comparison, “Bad Name” has 1,742,303 scrobbles, and “Prayer” has 1,712,976.) And “It’s My Life” is still gaining plays week upon week, which is a promising sign for any new tracks the band may unveil Tuesday night.
