Paul Simon Performs “Cecilia” With Jimmy Fallon And STOMP!
Paul Simon ramps up for his Spring tour which launches next Friday on the west coast by dropping by Late Night with Jimmy Fallon to promote his brand new album So Beautiful or So What. The talk show turns into a high-energy cabaret of talented musicians from house band The Roots to innovative object percussionists STOMP. Renaissance man Jimmy Fallon even provides harmony to Simon.
“Cecilia” is a song written by Paul Simon about a lost lover who causes anguish and jubilation to the singer. It was originally recorded in 1970 by Simon and Garfunkel for their album Bridge Over Troubled Water, which recently celebrated its 40th anniversary with a reissue and bonus DVD. It was released as a followup single to #1 hit “Bridge Over Troubled Water” and reached #4 on the U.S. charts.
Paul Simon was a guest on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon on Wednesday, April 6th and again on Thursday, April 7th and pulled out all the stops. ”This is a dream I’d always had of like, STOMP and Paul Simon, but I never thought I was in the dream singing,” an awe-struck Fallon admits.
