Premiere Sneak Peak: All The Backstage Buzz And Fury From “The Voice” (page 5)
On this particular day of taping, we only heard the best of the best perform. Sure, there was Barefoot Guy and Over-The-Top Rocker, but they all had serious talent to back up their strange gimmicks.
Unlike other singing competitions, the singers are backed up by a full band during the audition process. This definitely put the audience and the judges in a dancing mood.
But the blind auditions are also sort of a double-edged sword. It doesn’t really matter if you’re putting on a world-class performance because the coaches can’t actually see you. This means you have to be on point vocally 100% of the time.
Having an audience present also added an interesting element to the auditions. The performers either fed off the crowd’s energy or felt defeated by the lack of interest.
