John Mayer Diagnosed With Serious Throat Condition
[photogallerylink id=16714 align=left]According to Us Weekly, [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]John Mayer[/lastfm] will be taking a prolonged vocal rest due to a condition known as granuloma. In Mayer’s case, the granuloma has resulted in an inflamed nodule near the singer’s vocal cords.
On Friday, Mayer gave his fans a status report via his Tumblr:
This is a temporary setback, though I’m not sure how long or short a period of time it will be. I’ve got the best doctors in the country looking after me and I will be singing and touring again as soon as I get the all clear. Until then I’ll be spending time writing and composing more music and kicking an empty soup can around the West Village.
While he is not currently on tour, he did have several upcoming engagements, including an L.A. performance with [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Tony Bennett[/lastfm], that had to be cancelled.
The situation also brings about a postponement of the release of his next album, Born And Raised. Mayer says:
‘Born and Raised’ is complete as far as music recording, song selection, and in some cases mixing, but because of this condition I couldn’t finish singing on several of the tracks. This means the record will be released next year instead of this fall or winter.
Here’s hoping he’s back in singing shape again very soon! In the meanwhile, take a look at several of our John Mayer favorites.
