Matthew Lillard isn’t just an ordinary guy. Or even an ordinary film actor. In fact, he did something no one else can claim.
“I am the first man in the history of filmmaking to sleep with George Clooney’s wife,” he tells our friend Brad Blanks during a recent interview about the new Alexander Payne movie The Descendents.
The film stars Clooney as a man who’s struggling to reconnect with his two daughters in the wake of his wife’s boating accident. His wife was also, we find out early on, sleeping with someone else…played by Lillard.
In this interview, Brad Blanks talks to Lillard about the film and its director (Payne, whose previous films include Sideways and Election); about working with Clooney and nearly getting taken down by his security detail; and about being a “sex symbol” in the “late ’90s,” when Lillard starred in films such as Scream and Scooby Doo.
“It’s still pretty good to be Matt Lillard. I still got it. You don’t have to talk about the late ’90s, I’m not Duran Duran!”
