Bring together a supermarket, a lion, David Hasselhoff and a mariachi band and you have Train’s new video for “50 Ways to Say Goodbye.”
In the video, Pat Monahan runs into The Hoff while food shopping. During their smalltalk, the actor asks the Train frontman, “Where’s your girlfriend?” And then the story unfolds with each imaginary reason why she’s not there, taken directly from the lyrics of the song. Excuses like “she went down in an airplane” to “eaten by a lion,” are somehow easier for a heartbroken Monahan to say than to just come clean on the reason why they’re no longer together.
The band joined forces with director Marc Klasfeld this time around for the humorous clip. He’s also worked with Katy Perry on her “Last Friday Night” video, fun.’s “We Are Young” and “Fighter” from Gym Class Heroes and Ryan Tedder.
