Fresh 102.5 Salutes Joyce Sullivan-Howze
This summer, Fresh 102.5 and the PRACS Institute are saluting the women in St. Louis who are making a difference.
I spoke with Joyce Sullivan-Howze this week, a widow who recently lost her husband to cancer, and who also lost a son to tragic violence.
Here’s what Joyce’s co-worker Anna Botindari from St. Louis, MO had to say about her:
Joyce comes in to work every day with a smile. She’s always so helpful and positive. I am honored to work for a woman with this much strength and knowledge. When I get down I think of her trials and pain and it helps me bring myself back up. I salute her now and forever.
Joyce’s son, one of two identical twin boys, was the victim of homicide at age 28. Then, Joyce’s husband was diagnosed with cancer and lost his battle just recently. Joyce also suffers from Vitiligo, a condition that causes uneven pigmentation of the skin. Joyce says that her work is what keeps her going, and that she tries to encourage others to always find the positive aspects of difficult situations.
Joyce’s advice to other women who may feel like hiding?
Keep praying and live life transparently. Your beauty is what’s within. Not hiding who you are helps you overcome adversity.
I am so glad that Anna nominated Joyce, and that we had the opportunity to share her strength with Fresh listeners. Click below to listen to my full interview with Joyce Sullivan-Howze.
