It’s hard to believe the cellphone turns 40 years old today.   Motorola debuted a prototype of the Dynamic Adaptive Total Area Coverage (DynaTAC) portable phone in 1973 and as you might remember , it was the size of small microwave oven.

It then evolved into what some people  (probably a parent or grand-parent) still refer to as a car phone!   Remember taking your car into one of those “shops” to have the ugly antenna installed?

I remember getting my first “car phone” in the late 80’s and calling everyone I knew from the road,  just waiting for them to ask the question—“Hey!…where are you?

“Oh, I’m just driving around……”

Pretty cool until I got the first bill.

Enjoy the very first cellphone television ad ever created and yes—he’s driving into a lake.
