Roger Ebert passed away earlier today at the age of 70 after battling cancer for a number of years.   He was a Pulitzer Prize winner, author of over 20 books and one-half of Siskel & Ebert, their  long running weekly television battle royale.

Although he had battled serious health issues over the past few years, he continued to write his columns and reviews and was a major player on social media–especially Twitter.

He seemed to know the end was near however, based on this beautifully written piece  on salon.com.

Read it and remember…

BTW–I most enjoyed Siskel & Ebert when they weren’t  fans of a film.  Their  annual “worst of”  were classics.

Enjoy.
