Roger Ebert passed away earlier today at the age of 70 after battling cancer for a number of years.   He was a Pulitzer Prize winner, author of over 20 books and one-half of Siskel & Ebert, their  long running weekly television battle royale.

Although he had battled serious health issues over the past few years, he continued to write his columns and reviews and was a major player on social media–especially Twitter.

He seemed to know the end was near however, based on this beautifully written piece  on

BTW–I most enjoyed Siskel & Ebert when they weren’t  fans of a film.  Their  annual “worst of”  were classics.
