I’m not a sci-fi fan. I’m not really into vampires. I wouldn’t think I would be called a zombie person, although I do watch “The Walking Dead.” And I’m definitely NOT on the Brad Pitt bandwagon. But, if you want a good movie to rent over the weekend, I recommend “World War Z.” It was great from the first four minutes and I was entertained throughout the entire thing. I’m not sure it’s for kids but a good movie to rent for “date night.” Now to the new movies in theaters:

Thor: The Dark World: Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Anthony Hopkins, Rene Russo, Iris Elba and Natalie Portman star. Thor Picks up after the events of “The Avengers.” This time some evil elves return for revenge against Asgard and Thor has to free Loki who’s locked up. There’s two extra scenes during the credits that you may want to see. Rated PG-13

12 Years a Slave: (expanding nationwide today) Chiwetel Ejiofor, Brad Pitt, Benedict Cumberbatch and Michael Fassbender star. It’s the true story of Solomon Northrup, a free black man from New York who was kidnapped and sold into slavery. Rated R

About Time: Bill Nighy, Domhnall Gleeson and Rachel McAdams star. A guy learns he can travel through time and relive certain moments of his life until he gets them right. But then he has to make his girlfriend fall in love with him again. Rated R
