5 Unique Mother’s Day Gifts
In case you didn’t know already, Mother’s Day is on May 10th. You probably will pick out a cute, cheesy card and mail it to mom to show your appreciation, just like you did last year & the year before that. Don’t get me wrong, I love cards, especially when they’re sent via snail mail. But wouldn’t it be great to give a little more this Mother’s Day and show how grateful you are for the lady who helped raise you? Don’t panic and freak out, and don’t over think what you should get her. Instead, take an idea or two from this list below!
THE WINE DRINKING MOM
If your mom is the life of the party & loves to host wine drinking parties from time to time, I have some great ideas for you. Now, I’m sure your mom has ample wine glasses right? Great. But does she have an awesome wine & cheese board? I just recently saw this ampersand (one of my favorite typographic symbols) cheese & cracker board on UncommonGoods website that I may just have to buy for myself! How cute & unique is that? If you’re mom is more on the simpler side, check out this stone slate chalk cutting board also on UncommonGoods. If your mom likes to bring her wine outdoors, these wine stakes are perfect for outdoor lounging at picnics or poolside. You can find them at places like Crate and Barrel or even Home Depot. Snag one of these gifts with a bottle of her favorite wine & you may just get to share a glass with her while using her new gifts!
THE ATHLETIC MOM
Is your mom the type of lady who’s always working on her fitness? Then she could probably use some new tennis shoes and workout gear, right? Spoil mom with a new pair of kicks. It’s an easy but still thoughtful gift. DSW always has great deals that you could probably pick up a pair of shoes for not only mom, but for you as well — ain’t no shame in that! She probably could use some new workout tanks & shorts, too. Or say maybe your mom want’s to start getting into shape. Why not pay for the first couple of sessions with a personal trainer? Heck, maybe you guys can even do it together!
THE CRAFTY MOM
If you have the type of mom who’s always whipping up crafty creations, don’t get discouraged or worried you can’t get her anything she doesn’t already have. If she’s a painter, why not take her to a wine & painting bar? There are multiple places in the St. Louis Metro area putting a twist on painting. Some places include Sips & Splatters in Belleville and Maryville, Vino Van Gogh in St. Louis and Pinot’s Palette in Chesterfield. If she’s not into wining & painting, grab a basket & fill it full of artistic materials she needs — scrap booking paper, gift cards to Michael’s or Dick Blicks, etc. to help mom tackles a new project.
THE WORKING MOM
There’s no doubt mothers work hard, and that’s just another reason to show them some love on Mother’s Day. But if your mom’s the type of mom on the 9 to 5 grind, she may need some pick me ups to help her through her long days. Why not get mom a small Keurig or pour over coffee set for her to store at her desk or in her office? Most local coffee shops sell a variety of pour over systems for you to enjoy the freshest coffee possible. Maybe even get her a gift card to her favorite coffee shop. And if coffee’s not her thing, maybe take her out for a day of shopping and buying her some new threads to wear.
THE STAY AT HOME MOM
Is your mom the lady of the house who’s keeping things in line? Walking the dogs, running errands, or even possibly working from home? It’s a full-time job just like any other, spometimes even trickier since you’re in the luxury of your own house. Maybe what this mom needs is a day out filled with some TLC! Take her to get pampered — I’m talking mani & pedis, a nice long massage and out to brunch. Simple, but still shows that you care about making sure she’s taking care of herself, physically & mentally.
What do you think, are these some pretty good gift ideas? Is there anything you’d add to the list? Comment & let me know!
