Meet Connor Redwood, the Guy Who Yells ‘Hey!’ in Folk Rock’s Biggest Songs

Connor Redwood has played an integral part in some of the biggest folk rock songs of the past few years.

Who is he? He’s the guy who yells “Hey!”

In a video posted  last weekend, Redwood (real name comedian Harris Alterman) details his plight as one of the in-demand facets of songs from bands like the Lumineers and Of Monsters & Men. He may not be a singer, but his pipes are pretty important.

“Yelling ‘hey’… it’s my life,” Redwood says, appearing to get a bit verklempt. “…yeah.”

The video goes on to give a behind-the-scenes look of his contribution to the Lumineers’ “Ho Hey,” Of Monsters & Men’s “Little Talks” and Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros‘ “Home,” three of alternative rock’s bigger hits of the 2010s, perfecting the quick, punctual “Hey!” found in both tunes.
