Information from the Missouri Department of Transportation:

The Missouri Department of Transportation is restricting construction work on interstates and state highways during the July 4 holiday weekend. Work on most construction projects that would impact travel lanes will stop at noon Thursday, July 3. Traffic will still be restricted in areas where there are permanent barriers, such as near Tower Grove in St. Louis City. If required, crews will also close lanes where needed for emergency maintenance. Construction work will resume after 9 a.m. Monday.

Interstate lanes around Forest Park are expected to be exceptionally congested as people attend Fair St. Louis at the park this year. If you are heading to the fair this year, using MetroLink and the trolley system in Forest Park will avoid the most congestion. For more information on the transit access to the park, visit: http://www.nextstopstl.org/12195/metro-to-provide-extra-service-for-fair-saint-louis/.

Several ramps on I-64 are also expected to be closed to ease the flow of traffic around and into the fair. The westbound I-64 ramp to Hampton and the eastbound and westbound ramps to Clayton/Skinker close at 3 p.m. Thursday, July 3 and will not reopen until 1 a.m. July 6. In addition, one westbound lane on the interstate will be restricted for access to Fair St. Louis from 7:30 p.m. Thursday, July 3 until fair activities cease. The ramps from eastbound and westbound I-64 to McCausland and Kingshighway, and from eastbound I-64 to Hampton will close if traffic levels get too high. To check the latest information on interstate ramp closures, visit http://www.fairsaintlouis.org/.
